What is so cool about manufacturing?
Ask the 6 young women in Carolyn Roy’s Creative Technology
& Media enrichment group! Working in partnership with KMC Systems in
Merrimack, Emma Donnelly, Hannah Ellis, Delaney Kearns, Isabella McCutcheon,
Hannah McLinn, and Madison Walden are researching, interviewing and filming
this company’s industry and entering a state-wide contest run by the New
Hampshire Division of Economic Development.
Mrs. Roy’s 2015-2016 team entered last year and working with Stonyfield Organics
won 3rd place! That is a tough act to follow but these girls are up
for the challenge!
After being chosen through an application process, the girls
visited the company and have been working diligently “between classes” editing
their production. The contest requires them to create a 3 minute video that
answers the question, “What is so cool about manufacturing?” In addition to their hours filming and
editing, they also spent time with John Beaulieu, our district video technician
and Sasha Richards and Cam Audet of Industrial Traffic in Bedford learning
marketing strategies and editing skills to assist them in creating the best
product for their contest entry.
This is a win-win regardless of the outcome of the
contest. These young women will walk
away feeling such pride in their work and with college and career skills beyond
any class they can take in school!
